Hey thanks again , especially you VELVET GOLDMINE rockerz, you're all hot shit!

HOT ONE is about rawking and fun but we're also about (boring?) issues.....stuff we NEED to start addressing......

like this massive (and it's not just the USA, look at Canada, Germany etc) western shift towards bigoted thinking and arch-conservatisim. Anti-gay, anti-choice, anti fun, anti-human, overt xenophobia....it's all bubbling up again, as it always has at certain periods in history. And have we just simply accepted , speaking as an american, that our government can feel free to spy on us, and torture and terrorize and conduct brutal military conquests at will? Is that OK with us? Cos if it is......

Benjy Franklin said something like this : "THOSE WHO WOULD TRADE A LITTLE BIT OF LIBERTY FOR A BIT OF SECURITY DESERVE NEITHER". Ok Ben was a short kinda fat guy with funky glasses , maybe he wasn't super sexy but that sounds pretty punk rock to me, and about as timely as can be .

The "security" we've traded our "liberty" for is nothing but smoke, we know this in our hearts don't we. So what to do?

let me know what you guys think, and take care of yourselves today!!!

xxoo hot one

Hehe you rock, too. I like it that you try to be popular with the people :D

Well..mh..difficult topic. You're right, there are certain periods in history. People fight for rights and when they got them, they want more. But sometimes we regress. See, in the 60's people fought for their sexual freedom. That's what we have today. Naked people on magazines, TV etc. However, still there are a lot of people who stare at homosexuals, shaking their heads. Once my father said youth is becoming conservative. Is it so? I think there's one group accepting the rights and another who believes in old traditions. They have enough, they want rules, something or someone who sais what to do. Lost in their own freedom. That's what I have experienced. For me, it doesn't matter whether someone's homosexual, what kind of clothes he wears, colour of the skin etc. as long as he doesn't hurt me in some way. Really, so I have a lot of freaky friends *lol*. I often talk about such topics with them :). I'm fighting for my own rights, put my heart and soul in it and I accept everybody who accepts me. Even though is isn't easy...

yes, i agree with all the thoughts in your post.....there will always be these periods of time where the people who are less accepting of others are in control....this is why those of us who want to do our own thing and push the limits have to all take care of each other. xxxoo nathan

Holy crap, I'm actual going to use the stuff they're throwing at us in school...ahem. XD

Ok first, I do agree that we need to push the limits and get our voices heard on all these issues, but we have to be careful of how far it goes in the long run. It's all fine and dandy to have individual freedoms, but there's going to be a point somewhere along the line that you won't be able to glance at a person or say one word without them finding it offensive and infringing on their individual freedom. You have to A) have structure (fix the one we have, or reconstruct a new one) and B) a plan on what you want to accomplish.

Second, you absolutely, positively need to know what you're fighting for. There's a lot of important issues that we need to address, like Nathan said, but if you don't know what they're about, or why people are up in arms, you have no buisness saying anything at all. Educate yourself.

Third, and this goes back to the thing about individual freedom, keep in mind the common good. There's plenty of things we all want done because it will help ourselves, but will it help our community and/or our nation, will it make our expanded world even a little better? We're losing our sense of community, which is a HUGE problem because we're all obsessed with ourselves.

Fourth...Long live Velvet Goldmine. -_^

"We have been accused, Sir, in the Sacred Writings, that 'except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it.' I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without His concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel." - Ben Franklin

I think this always relevant, I mean, well, maybe it's not if you're an athiest or whatever, but anyway... I just like that quote too. ;-)

But I'm sure even ol' Ben Franklin wouldn't have given up having basic security, like say - police officers. I mean, we know he wasn't an anarchist.
Of course, is there a difference between "security" and "safety"? Maybe. Maybe not. But does anyone want absolutely zero security? That last thing we want is a bunch of warlords running America. (Ahem -- yeah, I know what you're thinking. You don't have to say it.)

If there were a guy several in your neighborhood or lets even say, two towns away, that you knew was plotting and coluding with people in order to kill you, would you want the police to step in and put a stop to it? I would!

Remember The Simpsons!:
Chief Wiggum: "I'm sorry, Mrs. Simpson, but I'm afraid there's isn't any law against mailing threatening letters."

Marge: "I'm pretty sure there is!"

Lou: "Hey, she's right, Chief." (shows Wiggum a law book)

Wiggum: "Well shut my mouth."
(sorry... I love the Simpsons.) :-)

Anyway, now just take the example I gave and upgrade that to the neighborhood of the world and you get the picture. That's my take on just one of the things Nathan mentioned anyway.

Later y'all!
